Ingredients

  • 1 cup of Coca-Cola (not diet)
  • 1/2 cup of cooking oil
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  2. In a saucepan, mix the Coca-Cola, oil, butter, and cocoa. Bring this mixture to a boil.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the sugar, flour, and salt.
  4. Pour the cola mixture over the flour mixture and beat everything together until well combined.
  5. Add the eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla extract. Beat the batter until smooth.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased and floured 9×13-inch baking pan.
  7. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean when inserted into the cake.
  8. While the cake is baking, letโ€™s make the chocolate frosting:
    • In a saucepan, heat the butter, cocoa, and milk until the butter melts.
    • Remove from heat and beat in the powdered sugar.
    • Finally, add the vanilla extract.
