Here’s a John Wayne Casserole recipe—a hearty, cheesy, and flavorful dish with a southwestern twist!

Ingredients:

For the Base Layer:

• 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough

• 1 lb ground beef

• 1 small onion, diced

• 1 packet taco seasoning

• 1 can (10 oz) Rotel tomatoes with green chilies, drained

For the Topping Layers:

• 1 cup sour cream

• ½ cup mayonnaise

• 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)

• 1 bell pepper, diced (red or green)

• 1 cup sliced jalapeños (optional, for heat)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Crust:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Press biscuit dough into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, covering the bottom.

3. Bake for 10 minutes, then set aside.

1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until browned.

2. Drain excess grease, then stir in taco seasoning and Rotel tomatoes. Simmer for 5 minutes.

4. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese.

5. Bake & Serve:

1. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
