Garlic Butter Steaks with Mushroom Gravy
Ingredients:
For the Steaks:
2 ribeye steaks (or your choice of steak)
2 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic, smashed
2 sprigs fresh thyme (optional)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Mushroom Gravy:
2 tbsp unsalted butter
8 oz mushrooms, sliced (button or cremini work well)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup beef broth (or stock)
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional for extra flavor)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions:
1. Cook the Steaks:
Preheat your skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and let it get hot.
Season the steaks with salt and black pepper on both sides.
Add the steaks to the skillet and sear for about 3-4 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the steak and your desired level of doneness.
During the last 2 minutes of cooking, add the butter, garlic, and thyme to the pan. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks as they cook.
Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside, covering them loosely with foil to rest.
2. Make the Mushroom Gravy:
In the same skillet, add butter and melt it over medium heat.
Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they’re softened and browned.
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, scraping the bottom of the skillet to loosen any flavorful bits.
Stir in the heavy cream and Dijon mustard (if using), and simmer the gravy for about 5 minutes until it thickens. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
3. Serve:
Plate the steaks and pour the mushroom gravy over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Serve with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.
